With its opulent settings and incredible visuals, its little wonder artists have been inspired by the art of Flash Gordon since the pioneering aesthetic established by creator Alex Raymond in 1934.  For the 1980 movie, Production Designer Danilo Donati expanded on Raymond’s lavish Art Deco style with an otherworldly extravagance and a colour palette of Black, Red & Gold.  The retro Sci-Fi look of ‘Flash Gordon’ remains unique in the pantheon of comic-book adaptations and is revered even more today than upon its original release.  Gordon’s Alive is proud to host a collection the very best tributes by artists – amateur and professional – from all over the world.  Enjoy!
